stef_collins_16-06-11June 16 - Britain's senior women's final 12 has been confirmed for EuroBasket Women 2011 which begins in Poland on Saturday (June 18).

The squad, which is led by Jo Leedham who has been battling injury for six months but returned to action last week, was drawn in Group B for this year's competition and are set to face Belarus on Saturday, Czech Republic on Sunday (June 19), and Israel on Monday (June 20) in the first round.

The team's head coach, Tom Maher said: "We have a good hardworking group, a mixture of experienced players with new up and coming talent.

We have kept a core of the squad from last year which provides consistency and a platform for continued development."

Since the team first assembled at Surrey Sports Park for camp in May they have endured a busy schedule, which has seen them play nine test-games.

"It has been a good mixture of training and preparation games," Maher added.

"Playing games against A level teams has been a step progression and has given the team challenges they are likely to face in EuroBasket.

"We feel confident in the work that has been put in over the last six weeks.

"Our preparation has been key.

"We have a challenging pool group and we need to ensure as individuals and as a team that we do our best."

Before heading to Poland, the GB team had the perfect finish to their EuroBasket 2011 warm-ups last night when they faced Slovakia away and clinched a close 75-73 victory in overtime, avenging last week's 54-65 loss in Latvia.

The final squad is as follows:

Kate Butters (UWIC Archers, UK)
Stef Collins (UWIC Archers, UK)
