FEI_Eventing_Feb_23February 24 - HSBC will continue as the global sponsor of the FEI Eventing for the next three years, it has been announced.


This will cover the title sponsorships for the HSBC FEI Classics and the HSBC FEI European Eventing Championships in 2011 and 2013.

HSBC has sponsored the Classics series since 2008, and its $1 million (£617,000) prize fund over the period of the sponsorship will be the largest on offer in Eventing.

Giles Morgan, HSBC Group Head of Sponsorship, said: "HSBC has been a proud sponsor of the HSBC FEI Classic since its inception in 2008, as well as the HSBC FEI European Eventing Championships, and the bank is delighted to be continuing its support of these prestigious international events.

"As part of every sports sponsorship HSBC undertakes there is a commitment by the bank to invest in the grassroots level of the sport and over the coming years HSBC will be working closely with the FEI to help continue the growth and development of Eventing around the world."

The FEI Classics 2011 series includes five four-star events – the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials, Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, Luhmühlen CCI presented by E.ON, The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials and Les Etoiles de Pau CCI.

FEI Secretary General Alex McLin said: "We are delighted that HSBC will be continuing its sponsorship of our flagship Eventing series, the HSBC FEI Classics.

"The partnership of a global brand like HSBC and a series like the Classics is a perfect fit."

The HSBC FEI Classics 2011 will use a system which will see the leading riders accumulate points at each event in the series, with the prizefund divided between the top five riders at the season's end.

The winnings will be $150,000 (£93,000), $75,000 (£46,000), $50,000 (£31,000), $33,000 (£20,000) and $25,000 (£15,000) respectively.

The FEI World Cup Eventing series is one the FEI's main series and will follow the same format as in 2010.

The Classics series calendar is due to open at the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials between April 22 and 25 and climax at the Les Etoiles de Pau on October 12 and 16.
