Frenchman Tanguy de la Forest stole the show on the final day of the Lima 2023 World Shooting Para Sport Championships by winning the R9 mixed 50 metres rifle prone SH2 final, helping his country finish as the best nation.

De la Forest had already secured gold in the R4 mixed 10m air rifle standing SH2, along with two team titles in the R4 and R9 categories and a bronze in the R5 mixed 10m air rifle prone SH2.

The 45-year-old's performance on the final day ensured France finished with six gold, two silver and one bronze medal overall.

South Korea finished second with four gold, eight silver and five bronze medals.

Italy was the third best nation in the tournament, concluding with four gold and three silver medals.

De la Forest scored 252.5 to beat Dragan Ristić of Serbia and Moritz Alexander Moebius of Germany on Friday.

Ristić claimed silver with a score of 249.5 while Moebius got bronze in 227.7.

Earlier, De la Forest set a world record in the R4 mixed 10m air rifle standing SH2, bagging 254.8 for the title.

It was a closely contested final with Myungho Lee of South Korea getting the silver medal in 254.2.

Slovenian four-time Paralympic medallist Franček Gorazd Tiršek claimed the final podium spot thanks to an effort of 231.5.

The R2 women's 10m air rifle standing SH1 final saw a massive upset as China's Yixin Zhong captured gold.

With a score of 248, she shocked four-time Paralympic gold medallist and reigning world champion Veronika Vadovičová of Slovakia, who finished eighth.

Silver went to Vadovičová's compatriot Iryna Shchetnik, who finished 0.5 behind Yixin.

Cagla Bas of Turkey took the bronze medal on 225.9.

Jinho Park of South Korea emerged victorious in the R1 men's air rifle standing SH1 event, beating compatriot and defending world champion Jangho Lee.  

Jinho scored 248.8 while Jangho managed 227.9 for bronze.

Sandwiched between the South Koreans was silver medallist Didier Richard of France, who shot    248.6 for silver medal.

Italians got their medals in the PT2 mixed trap standing (lower limb) SG-L final, with Fabrizio Cormons and Raffaele Talamo winning gold and silver, respectively.

Cormons scored 37 in the final compared to Talamo who got 33.

Bronze medal went to Ignacio Javier Oloriz Sanz of Spain, who was far behind in 27.

Davide Fedigucci was involved in an intense shoot-off with Juha Myllymaki of Finland in the PT1 mixed trap seated SG-S.

Both were tied on 34 in the final before Fedigucci edged Myllymaki 2-1 for the title.

Spain's Pedro Gomez Albendea took bronze with a score of 24.

Paralympic champion Manish Narwal of India triumphed in the men's P1 10m air pistol SH1.

Narwal pipped South Korean Jungnam Kim 239.7 to 235.9 after an intense battle that saw Yan Xiao Gong of the United States, the P3 mixed 25m pistol SH1 champion, settle for bronze.

Cuiping Zhang celebrated her 36th birthday in Lima in style by grabbing the top spot in the R10 mixed team 10m air rifle standing SH1.

The Chinese star combined with Bo Ren to beat South Koreans Yunri Lee and Jinho Park 16-10 in the gold medal match.

South Korea won another gold courtesy of Jeongdu Jo and Aeekyung Moon in the P6 mixed team 10m air pistol SH1.

It was a humbling as they defeated Aybaniz Babayeva and Kamran Zeynalov of Azerbaijan 16-2.
