The International University Sports Federation (FISU) took part in the first edition of the European Sport Congress, a three-day event bringing together sports administrators from across the continent.

FISU was represented at the Congress, held in Gijon in Spain, by director general Paulo Ferreira, development and healthy campus director Fernando Parente and sustainability officer Sameer Janmohamed, who participated in both the main sessions and panel discussions.

The three-day Congress at the University of Oviedo explored topics including sports policy, gender equality, sustainability and the impact of technology on sport.

Speakers at the event included Ibán García del Blanco, a member of the European Parliament, and President of the Spanish Olympic Committee Alejandro Blanco.

On the sidelines of the Congress, a working meeting of the Green Campus Programme was held, with representatives from FISU in attendance.

Objectives of the programme include assessing sustainable and healthy lifestyle promotion activities within university sport and improving training programmes related to these topics for individuals working at universities.
