Starting pitcher Frandelis Garcia was on the mound for the whole game and batted in two runs in an instrumental performance.

"I thank God for this opportunity to represent my country," she said.

"I had a lot of confidence in my team and my manager Carlos Torres.

"Of course, I also have a lot of confidence in my arm and my bat."

Chinese Taipei then met France in what was expected to be a simple outing.

However, the bottom-placed side got off to a blistering start as they took a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning.

It would not last long though as they shipped 14 unanswered scores to lose 15-5.

"We are delighted," said Chinese Taipei captain Yu Ying Hsieh.

"I hope our accomplishment will convince every girl in Taiwan to try baseball.

"My message to all the women is to forget the message that men play baseball and women play softball.

"This World Cup showed how good women's baseball can be."

The final match of the day saw Japan cruise past Cuba 10-0 with a dominant performance.

Third baser Akari Hoshikawa starred with the bat as she picked up two runs, two hits, and one run batted in from two at bats.

Now the group stages are complete, the line-up is confirmed with hosts Canada, Mexico, and the United States joining Japan, Venezuela and Chinese Taipei in Thunder Bay.

Dates are yet to be decided but Port Arthur Stadium and Baseball Central are set to host matches in the Ontario city.
