The non-alcoholic beer brand Tourtel Twist has become an official supporter of the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics.

Tourtel Twist is a brand belonging to the French brewer Kronenbourg, a subsidiary of Danish company Carlsberg.

Le Monde first reported the partnership and said it had been the subject of months of work by Kronenbourg.

The securing of a non-alcoholic beer beverage as supporter follows revelations in June alcohol will not be sold in any Paris 2024 venues, with organisers opting not to negotiate an exemption as is in place for the ongoing men's Rugby World Cup.

Despite this, beer, wine and spirits will be permitted to be served in VIP and corporate hospitality areas, prompting some complaints of hypocrisy.

The Tourtel Twist partnership takes the number of official supporters of Paris 2024 up to 34.

Official supporters are on the third tier of Paris 2024's partnership programme, below premium partners and official partners.

Paris 2024 expects €1.226 billion (£1.053 billion/$1.308 billion) of its budget to come from sponsorship, around 28 per cent of the total €4.38 billion (£3.761 billion/$4.673 billion).

This would surpass its initial target of €1.1 billion (£945,000/$1.2 billion) in sponsorship revenue.

Paris 2024 President Tony Estanguet welcomed Tourtel Twist as a supporter of the Games.

"It is a pleasure to welcome Tourtel Twist," he said, as reported by Le Monde.

"With such a partner, we very concretely embody the values of sharing and conviviality which are the foundations of sport and which have all their place at the Games."

Kronenbourg chief executive Anders Røed expressed his delight at securing involvement in Paris 2024.

"This partnership illustrates the exceptional development of the brand," he said, as reported by Le Monde.

"It is a unique experience which will allow it to increase its visibility during the most popular event of 2024 and to offer the public the opportunity to refresh themselves during convivial moments."

Tourtel Twist launched in 2015, and last year secured an agreement as official supplier of the Tour de France running through to 2025.

The Paris 2024 Olympics are scheduled for July 26 to August 11 next year, followed by the Paralympics from August 28 to September 8.
