Kenya's women won the African Nations Volleyball Championship for the tenth time ©CAVB

Officials have called for supporters to give Kenya’s players a heroines' welcome when they return home after their victory in the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) Women's African Nations Volleyball Championship.

Kenya defeated Egypt 25-22, 25-20, 25-14 in the final in Yaounde.

Sharon "Chumba" Chepchumba was the star performer with 27 points, including four aces.

Kenya had a perfect record of five wins in the preliminary stages of the competition and defeated Nigeria and host nation Cameroon to reach the final.

It was the tenth time that Kenya have won the tournament.

Host nation Cameroon, winners of the tournament in 2021, beat Rwanda in four sets 25-21, 25-15, 25-14, 25-15 to claim bronze.

The top three teams - Kenya, Egypt and Cameroon have all qualified for the 2025 International Volleyball Federation Women's World Championship as representatives of the African continent by virtue of their performances in Yaounde.
