Japan and China have sealed their semi-finals spot at the 2023 International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Women's Asia Cup in Sydney.

Defending champions Japan underlined their supremacy as they cruised past hosts Australia with a  dominating 91-66 win.

The second round was crucial in the game with the Asian side scoring 29-11 against the Opals.

With 19 points and five assists, Mai Yamamoto was the star of the game.

Japan had 17 three-pointers during the game, with Monica Okoye playing her part with 20 points.

China, meanwhile, took time to reach the last-four stage after a tense 87-81 win over South Korea after overtime.

Xu Han stood out again for the Chinese, getting a whopping 33 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks.

Meng Li did her part in securing 26 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the day.

The Philippines emerged victorious in a Group B battle against Chinese Taipei.

The 92-81 win means they can now stay in Division A and made qualification for a spot in the semi-finals.

Jack Animam, Afril Bernardino and Vanessa De Jesus all starred for the Philippines.

Animam produced 16 points and 15 rebounds while Bernardino contributed to 18 points and 10 rebounds.

De Jesus was the pick of the game, top scoring with 25 points.

After an embarrassing defeat against China yesterday, New Zealand won 76-45 against Lebanon, meaning they still have a chance to qualify for the next stage.

The Tall Ferns have former Aussie Tahlia Tupea to thank as she contributed to 20 points today with Penina Davidson supporting her with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
