The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has chosen Lenny Barry from Volleyball England as their technical delegate for the Summer World University Games in Chengdu next month.

"I appreciate the opportunities that being a technical delegate bring, it is long travel, and very long hours working at events, usually 14 to 16 hour days, but it enables me to see and be involved in high level volleyball and, hopefully, bring some new knowledge, experience or ideas back to help volleyball in England."

His tasks will include supervising training courts and warm up areas.

Barry is also to carry out inspections of the courts and equipment before each match.

He is additionally responsible for validating player eligibility and ensuring that uniforms comply with regulations.

The men's competition is set to feature 24 teams and 16 sides will contest the women's tournament.

Competition is to be held at the Xipu Campus Gymnasium, Southwest Jiaotong University.
