Dylan Bibic has starred for Canada as the country retained its title at the Pan American Track Cycling Championships in the Argentine city of San Juan.

The scratch world champion bagged five of Canada's 11 gold medals at the Vicente Alejo Chancay Velodrome.

Following Canada's triumph in the team sprint, Bibic's first title came alongside Michael Foley, Mathis Guillemette, and Sean Richardson in the team pursuit.

Dominant solo victories were then in store for Bibic in the omnium, scratch, and elimination race in addition to a madison win with Guillemette.

James Hedgcock sealed the only other Canadian men's victory in the 1-kilometre time trial while Lauriane Genest picked up the sprint win and Ariane Bonhomme prevailed in the individual pursuit.

Bonhomme also featured in Canada's women's team pursuit triumph with Erin Attwell, Fiona Majendie, and Ruby West.

The women's events were dominated by Mexico who earned all six of their gold medals in the events.

It put them second in the overall medals table, ahead of third-placed Colombia with a hat-trick of golds.

World silver medallist Martha Bayona excelled with victories in the keirin and 500-metres time trial while her compatriot Juan Esteban Arango denied Canada a 12th gold by beating Guillemette in the men's points race.

The only other gold medals of the Championships went the way of Trinidad and Tobago's Nicholas Paul.

The 24-year-old added to his Commonwealth Games and Pan American Games golds by sealing victory in the men's sprint and keirin.
