Swedish rider Henrik von Eckermann enjoyed home success after a nine-rider jump-off at equestrian’s Global Champions Tour leg in Stockholm.

Von Eckermann, riding King Edward, secured a place at the Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix in Prague following the victory, after he completed the course in a time of 46.17 seconds in the jump-off.

As the last rider to go in the jump-off, von Eckermann pushed King Edward to take the combination fence a stride earlier, and this bold move paid off as the pair took victory by 0.06sec.

Second place went to Shane Breen of Ireland, riding Haya, who went first in the jump-off, stopping the clock in 46.23.

The podium was completed by Germany’s Marcus Ehning, riding Stargold, who also recorded a clear round, in a time of 46.33.

Six combinations recorded clear rounds in the jump-off, with fourth place going to Britain’s Ben Maher on board Dallas Vegas Batilly in 46.88.

Pieter Devos of Belgium took fifth place riding Mom’s Toupie De La Roque in 47.41, with Mark McAuley of Ireland in sixth also clear riding Django Ste Hermelle in 48.62.

In the overall championship standings, Netherlands rider Maikel Van Der Vleuten, who skipped the event in Stockholm, leads on 175 points.

Swedish rider Malin Baryard-Johnsson, who finished seventh in Stockholm after knocking down the last fence in the jump-off, is second overall with 160.14 points.

In third place overall is Germany’s Christian Kukuk on 134 points.

The next stop on the Global Champions Tour circuit is Paris in France, with competition to take place under the Eiffel Tower between June 23 and 25.
