An independent survey has revealed unprecedented levels of home support for the 2023 Rugby World Cup (RWC) to be held in France.

With 100 days to go until the tournament gets underway, organisers have revealed data from a BVA study showing that 90 per cent of the French public support the staging of the tournament.

Among them, 76 per cent of respondents planned to interact directly with the event.

In terms of positive public image, rugby is rated number one among all sports in France.

"This is massive, and it shows the interest and support there is for the event," Michel Poussau, executive director of RWC 2023 for World Rugby, told insidethegames.

"With 100 days to go until the tournament starts we are very satisfied with the findings."

A total of 2.5 million tickets have already been sod, making this the best-selling tournament in RWC history.

All publicly-available tickets were sold more than a year ahead of the opening match on September 8.

The evening will see live projections of iconic landmarks in the nine host cities.
