On the last day of the joint-IBSF World Cup and European Championships in the German resort, Hall, Arran Gulliver, Taylor Lawrence and Greg Cackett made history for their country.

Kaillie Humphries and Kaysha Love claimed a victory for the United States in the two-woman World Cup event, with a second-place finish from home favourites Laura Nolte and Neele Schuten securing them the European crown.

Britain was quickest on both runs with 54.56sec and 54.76 on the Altenberg bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track, giving them a combined time of 1min 49.32sec.

Germany's Francesco Friedrich, a back-to-back two-man and four-man Olympic champion, piloted his team to second place.

He was joined by Thorsten Margis, a team-mate at Pyeongchang 2018 and Beijing 2022, Candy Bauer who competed in the four-man at the last two Winter Olympics and Felix Straub in finishing 0.09sec slower than Britain.

They produced runs of 54.58 and 54.83.

Switzerland's Michael Vogt, Sandro Michel, Alain Knuser and Cyril Bieri earned bronze in 1:49.54 with their runs of 54.66 and 54.88.

Hall and Friedrich shared an overall World Cup lead with 1,287 points in the four-man.

"We’ve done something no British team has ever done before and that feels pretty special," Hall said.

"We’ve made history and no one can take that away from us.

"We knew we could win here after doing it last week but to beat the Germans two weeks running at a track where they always dominate is incredible, really."

In the two-woman World Cup ranking, world champion Humphries was joined by Love in taking gold with runs of 57.44 and 57.35, ensuring they finished in 1:54.79.

Second-placed Nolte - a two-woman Olympic gold medallist - and Schuten secured European gold with runs of 57.63 and 57.18, finishing just 0.02 behind the American pair.

Switzerland's Melanie Hasler and Nadja Pasternack were third on the World Cup and second at the European Championships with their 57.79 and 57.57 efforts yielding a time of 1:55.36.

Kim Kalicki and Anabel Galander doubled the German presence on the European podium, clocking 1:55.42 from runs of 57.70 and 57.72, which earned a fourth-place World Cup finish.

Kalicki preserved her overall four-woman lead on the World Cup with 1,252 points, but Nolte is just five points behind and Humphries only 10 off top spot.

The IBSF World Championships in St Moritz are due to run from Thursday (January 26) until February 5, followed by the penultimate leg of the World Cup in Innsbruck on February 11 and 12.
