Sochi_winter_logo_Dec_10December 11 - An innovative new digital technology which allows organisers to plan all staff activity in 3D has been demonstrated to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) by the Sochi 2014 Organising Committee.

After proposing the system for IOC approval, President and chief executive of Sochi 2014, Dmitry Chernyshenko, said: "Preparations for the Games are progressing along 54 key functions and we are already planning the Games-time operations at the Olympic venues.

"Virtual testing will significantly increase the efficiency of all our services.

"The technology we have presented to the IOC today allows us to simulate the functional activity at the Olympic venues."

The IOC has now completed its final inspection visit of 2010 in Sochi.

IOC Coordination Commission chairman Jean-Claude Killy, who took part in the visit, said: "Sochi 2014 continues on course for top quality Games and we've been pleased with the progress that we've seen over the past two days.

"We also congratulated Russia and its people on winning the right to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

"There will be tremendous synergies for the country in a number of areas as it strives to put on these two great sporting events.

"In particular, the Games will leave a tremendous human legacy.

"The highly trained professionals and volunteers from the Games will no doubt play a key role in the success of the World Cup and other major sporting events that Russia will host in the future."
