Cody Lynch has been appointed as Commonwealth Games Australia (CGA)’s general manager for marketing, communications and community.

Lynch’s previous role was serving as the communications and marketing lead for the acquisition of the Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games, during his time with Victoria’s State Government in the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions.

Lynch has previously worked with organisations including Athletics Australia, where he served in public relations roles for just under eight years, and the Australian Olympic Committee, where he acted as media liaison officer at both Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.

Speaking about his appointment Lynch said: "A home Games in 2026 provides a critical opportunity for the CGA to showcase our talented athletes, member sports and extensive work within the community.

"I feel privileged to have the chance to be involved."

Commonwealth Games Australia chief executive Craig Phillips added: "The general manager - marketing, communications and community is a crucial member of our leadership team.

"We are thrilled to secure someone of Cody’s calibre and experience as we head towards Victoria 2026.

"The role encompasses a range of areas, leading our marketing, communications, digital media and community related operations.

"Cody is passionate about sport, has developed an outstanding skillset through his professional career to date, and we are really excited about the positive impact he will make to the CGA community."

Lynch is due to begin full-time in his post on January 16 2023.

Victoria in Australia is scheduled to host the next edition of the Commonwealth Games, from March 17 to 29 2026.
