The International University Sports Federation’s (FISU) International Medical Committee (CMI) had its first in-person meeting, discussing medical care and anti-doping policies.

The CMI was formed in 2019 and the meeting was conducted to provide "a general update" on issues covered by the CMI.

A presentation on the implementation guidelines for anti-doping policies was conducted by Dusan Hamar, the chair of the Committee.

Apart from reviewing doping controls and medical care operations, preparations for Lake Placid 2023 and Chengdu 2021 was discussed.

FISU Acting President Leonz Eder, FISU secretary general Eric Saintrond, FISU director general Paulo Ferreira and CMI vice-chair Tapio Kallio were among those who attended the meeting.

Anti-doping coordinator Tom Crisp, education coordinator Ian Murphy and CMI members Koichi Watanabe, Jose Garza, Kadirhan Sunguroglu, Pietro Rettagliata and Carlos Magalhaes joined the meeting while Abdul Halim Bin Mokhtar, Pawel Reichert, Hong Zhang, and Walter Frey attended online.

Suggestions to improve doping control and medical care was given after assessing reports from all FISU World University Championships and University World Cups in 2022.

Transgender athletes and FISU’s policy on the same were also talked about.
