Kenya is one of six nominees for the World Athletics Member Federations Award this year, despite a flurry of anti-doping rule violations coming from the nation over the past 12 months.

Athletics Kenya are being recognised for becoming the first National Federation to sign the Sport for Climate Action Framework, in line with World Athletics' position.

The organisation has since then installed four air quality sensors in four venues in Nairobi.

It has also staged the only Continental Tour Gold meeting in Africa in 2022, while Kenya topped the medal table at the African Athletics Championships.

Eliud Kipchoge notably broke his own men's marathon world record too.

However, Kenya has been marred by several doping cases over the past couple of years - with some of the high-profile athletes including 2021 Boston Marathon women's winner Diana Kipyokei and 2019 Chicago and Boston Marathon men's winner Lawrence Cherono.

The shortlisted federations were nominated by each of the six area associations and not World Athletics.

The Brazilian Athletics Confederation has been recognised for hosting six international events this year including the South American Under-18 and U-23 Championships, the South American Cross Country Championships, the Pan American Cross Country Championships and a World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze meeting.

It also secured two sponsorship deals to help grassroots athletics in the country.

The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association was nominated partly for stepping in to hold the Caribbean Free Trade Association (CARIFTA) Games during complications caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Athletic performances at the World Athletics Championships, Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, the World Athletics Under-20 Championships and the Diamond League circuit have been recognised too.

Woo also won outdoor silver in Oregon.

Grassroots development and training camps improvements were noted in their nomination too.

Finally, the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation has been nominated for hosting the inaugural European Off-Road Running Championships and the Dynamic New Athletics (DNA) European Under-20 Clubs competition.
