Jumbo-Visma rider Vos launched a well-timed sprint finish to claim her 32^nd overall stage win and second of this year's race in 2hr 58min 30sec while Belgium's Lotte Kopecky and Silvia Perisco of Italy followed behind in second and third respectively.

The cyclists embarked on a 114.7-kilometres route which featured five 18km laps around Sarnico before a 25km sprint to the line.

The laps contained a short but gruelling category three climb of San Pantaleone.

The peloton were all together with 50km remaining before a breakaway from Dutchwoman Lucinda Brand saw her come over the fourth San Pantaleone crest.

Brand was eventually caught and a series of attacks and counter attacks were launched until the final breakaway came courtesy of French rider Victoire Berteau who accelerated away with 25km to go.

She developed a 48 second gap from the chasing pack but was finally caught with 4km remaining as Vos, Italy's Elisa Longo Borghini, and Mavi Garcia of Spain launched a three-pronged attack.

Vos took the wheel of American Kristen Faulkner after Kopecky launched her attack with 200 metres left before showing her power to come around at the perfect moment and sprint to the line.

Despite having to unclip from her bike with around three kilometres to go Van Vleuten recovered superbly to catch up to the leading pack ensuring she did not lose any time on her general classification lead.

The Movistar rider is 25 seconds ahead of Garcia in the overall standings while Italy's Marta Cavalli occupies third place, 57 seconds behind the leader.

The action is due to continue tomorrow with a 112.9km stage from Prevalle to Passo Maniva.
