The Tanzania Olympic Committee (TOC) has organised a course for sports officials, as part of its initial preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The course took place in Morogoro and was attended by representatives from the Zanzibar Football Federation, Judo Association of Tanzania and Zanzibar Judo Association, Boxing Federation of Tanzania, Tanzanian Athletics Federation, Zanzibar Athletic Association and the Tanzania Swimming Association, as reported by Tanzania Daily News.

A forum was also held as part of preparations, with officials from the sports organisations represented saying financial constraints stopped them from hiring qualified coaches, as they were not able to pay them.

President of the TOC Gulam Rashid admitted with no sports discipline having a qualified coach, it made it "difficult" for the country to win a medal at either the Paris 2024 Olympics or Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

TOC vice-president Henry Tandau added that Tanzania’s target was "to win medals, and not just participate as tourists."
