Sweden is the latest nation to join as a member of World Kabaddi, becoming the third organisation to be accepted in the space of a month.

After officially registering with the authorities in their home country, the Swedish Kabaddi Federation (SKF) was confirmed by World Kabaddi to have joined its ranks

Recently, the Qatar Kabaddi Association and the Kabaddi Federation of Cambodia were also admitted as members.

The SKF is led by its President, Nityanand Nityanand, which World Kabaddi say will "help steer kabaddi to a better future in the country".

After SKF became a member, Sweden will be eligible to compete at the third edition of the European Kabaddi Championships later in the year in Italy.

A venue and dates have yet to be confirmed.

World Kabaddi is one of two organisations claiming themselves as the world governing body for the sport with the other being the International Kabaddi Federation.
