National Olympic Committees (NOCs) from Iran and Iraq have signed Memorandums of Understanding to cooperate in different sports fields.

President of the Iranian NOC Salehi Amiri hosted Iraqi NOC President Raad Hammoudi and his delegation in Tehran.

During a media conference held as part of the visit Amiri said: "Today we have the second round of talks with the President of the Iraqi NOC, we had talks in Baghdad two months ago and signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate in all fields."

Amiri added: "Fortunately, the head of the Iraqi NOC followed up on the issue [of the MoUs], and 10 heads of Iraqi federations have travelled to the country with him.

"We had three main agreements and several smaller agreements."

The heads of the Iraqi judo, wrestling, sailing, weightlifting, taekwondo, basketball and table tennis accompanied Hammoudi on the visit, as reported by the Mehr News Agency.

Speaking about the visit Hammoudi said: "Our presence in Iran is a sign of willingness to continue cooperation with the National Olympic Committee of Iran and use specialised and administrative experience because Iran has a good experience."

In December Amiri travelled to Iraq for a meeting with Hammoudi, and during the trip visited some sports centres in the country, while also signing an MoU on sports cooperation.
