Three World Cups and four Challenger events are planned by the Boccia International Sports Federation (BISFed) next year, with the organisation publishing its 2022 calendar.

The World Boccia Championships in Rio de Janeiro - due to be held from December 3 to 14 - headline the calendar.

However, after two years where the majority of its competitions have been wiped out by the COVID-19 crisis, BISFed hopes to return to more regular tournaments in 2022.

Its calendar features 12 events, and the first World Boccia Cup has been set for Montreal in Canada, starting on April 25.

Póvoa de Varzim in Portugal and Taiwanese capital Taipei City are due to host the other World Cups, in July and August.

Croatian capital Zagreb, in April, Dutch town Veldhoven and Poznań in Poland - both in August - and Olbia in Italy, in September, are set to stage World Boccia Challenger competitions.
