Switzerland's Jonas Frei holds a significant advantage at the halfway stage of the bobsleigh event at the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation Para-Sport World Championships in St Moritz.

Frei finished his opening two runs in a combined time of 2min 26.29sec at the Olympia Bobrun St Moritz-Celerina.

The Swiss pilot is 0.43sec ahead of defending champion Lonnie Bissonnette of Canada going into the third and fourth runs tomorrow.

Bissonnette sits on 2:27.72 at the midway point of the competition, 0.33 clear of Sweden's 2019 World Championships bronze medallist Sebastian Westin in third.

Switzerland's Christopher Stewart, the overall Para Sport World Cup leader, is languishing down in 15th place after a mistake on the first run.

The World Championships are set to conclude tomorrow.

The event is taking place less than a month after the International Paralympic Committee confirmed Para bobsleigh would not be included on the programme for the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
