Britain’s Dan Evans has labelled the conduct of men’s doubles opponents Matwe Middelkoop and Marcel Demoliner as "disgusting" following an on-court row yesterday.

Dutch player Middelkoop and Brazil’s Demoliner claimed a ball had hit Evans during a point in the third set of the men’s doubles first round.

Evans, playing with Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz, confronted Middelkoop on the court.

Umpire Arnaud Gabas separated the players.

Middelkoop accused Evans of acting "like a child" during the row.

"I'd say I'm pretty fair," said Evans after the match, according to the Press Association.

"For me that there is as good as calling me a cheat, which is disgusting.

"And I won't let that go and that's why I told him when we went 5-2 up.

"Some of these guys seem to be happy to give it out to us but don't like it when it comes back their way and I've no issues with doing that.”

Evans and Hurkacz ultimately won the match 7-6, 3-6, 7-5.

The pairing were knocked out of the tournament today after they were beaten in straight sets by Spain’s Marcel Granollers and Argentina’s Horacio Zeballos.

Granollers and Zeballos are the second seeds for the tournament and showed their class in a comfortable 6-2, 6-2 victory.

The French Open continues tomorrow.
