The Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games Organising Committee held a joint online meeting with the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Organising Committee, discussing topics such as market development and competition projects.
Also on the agenda for the meeting held yesterday (September 29) were talks about the Asian Games Village, accommodation and transportation for the Asian Games.
The two Organising Committees will oversee the hosting of the next two Asian Games, with the Chinese edition in Hangzhou scheduled to take place from September 10 to 25 2022, less than two years away.
It was reported that the Aichi-Nagoya Organising Committee were prepared and planning early for the Games in six years time, with a Hangzhou 2022 official calling its preparation "impressive".
There is an expectation that both sides will now look to promote each others' events in preparation for 2022 and 2026.
Hisao Kondo, head of the general affairs division of Aichi-Nagoya 2026 thanked the Hangzhou 2022 team for hosting the online meeting and sharing the progress, concepts and practices they had in store for the Games.
There is an expectation that both parties will continue to keep in close communication to study each other's practices and learn in their preparation.
The Asian Games is set to be held in China for the third time after Beijing 1990 and Guangzhou 2010 while Aichi-Nagoya 2026 is scheduled to be the third held in Japan after Tokyo 1958 and Hiroshima 1994.
