Oscar Pistorius_in_front_of_Nike_Advert_October_2011November 1 - American clothing and sport equipment giant Nike has launched a major new sportswear campaign titled "Always On" which stars South African four-time Paralympic gold medallist Oscar Pistorius.

In order to celebrate the launch, a special event was held at Sandton City shopping centre in Johannesburg, not far from where Pistorius was born and raised, which was attended by 30 young aspiring runners, 300 fans and the superstar athlete himself.

To promote the campaign, a special film called "Oscar Pistorius Always On" was shot recently in London and it has recently debuted on social platforms such as Facebook and YouTube.

The film sees the 24-year-old double leg amputee discuss the challenges he has had to overcome to achieve success on a road that has seen him become the first amputee in history to compete at the IAAF World Athletics Championships.

He achieved the feat in Daegu earlier this year when he made the 400 metres individual semi-final and was part of the South African 4x100m relay team that won the gold medal.

The advert also sees Pistorius discuss the tattoo inked across his back which is the Bible verse 1 Corinthians 9:26-27.

It reads: "Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air.

"No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize."

Pistorius is now aiming to become the first double leg amputee athlete to compete at both the Olympics and Paralympics at London 2012.

The achieve the feat, he will need to run  the 400m in under 45.25sec just once next year between January and June.

His personal best is currently 45.07 which he set in Lignano in Italy earlier this year.
