The Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong (SF&OC) has said they will address concerns with its Government over the impact on its institutions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

SF&OC's recently set-up Anti-Epidemic Fund Taskforce is set to meet with the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government.

It has three major concerns with those being the possibility of increasing grant amounts, simplifying the application and verification procedures and releasing the grant to the beneficiaries as soon as possible.

Hong Kong's Government Anti-Epidemic Fund is now in its second round and they are pledging a one-off subsidy of HK$7,500 (£777/$967/€885) to coaches affected by the epidemic.

These will also include sports coaches engaged or registered with national sports associations or sport organisations in the country.

SF&OC have addressed these concerns due to feedback from national sports associations who were concerned about the level of relief provided to them.

In a statement, SF&OC said, "We will continue our discussion with the HKSAR Government to work out the long-term measures in supporting the sports community in this difficult period."

To date, there have been more than 1,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Hong Kong with four deaths as a result.
