Ecuador’s Jefferson Albeiro Cepeda Hernández claimed victory in the men’s individual road race on the last day of competition at the Pan American Road Cycling Championships in Mexico.

The 23-year-old clocked 4 hours 41min 26sec on the 176.4 kilometres route, comprising 12 laps of the 14.7km Ciudad del Conocimiento circuit in Pachuca de Soto.

Colombia’s Julio Alexis Camacho was the runner-up in 4:41:35.

Rounding off the podium was Cepeda Hernández’s compatriot Segundo Mesías Navarrete Navarrete in 4:41:48.

Completing the top six were Peru’s Royner Grover Navarro Calle, Guatemala’s Dorian Javier Monterroso and Ecuador’s Byron Patricio Guamá de la Cruz.

Efrén Santos Moreno was the highest-placed Mexican, finishing seventh.
