Jacobellis put down the fastest time in training, bettering Samková's best run by over two seconds, but it is widely considered that things could go either way come race day.

On the men's side, Germany's Martin Noerl will be aiming to secure the overall title having led the way since the first competition of the season in Cervinia in Italy.

He currently sits on 1,830 points with second-ranked Alessandro Haemmerle of Austria trailing by 190.

Putting down the first and second fastest runs in training yesterday was Haemmerle, who comes into the competition in Veysonnaz fresh off a win at the last World Cup stop in Baqueira-Beret in Spain earlier this month.

With three previous podiums at this weekend’s venue, Haemmerle could be the man to beat.

Also concluding in Veysonnaz this weekend is the FIS Ski Cross World Cup with Switzerland's Fanny Smith looking to wrap up the women's title.

Smith currently leads the World Cup standings with 763 points, giving her a lead of 88 over nearest challenger Sandra Naeslund of Sweden.

Naeslund will have to perform exceptionally in the final race of the season and rely on Smith finishing in a low-scoring position if she has any chance of taking the crystal globe.

France's Bastien Midol has already secured the men's overall title after back-to-back wins in Sunny Valley in Russia last month.

He has amassed a total of 696 points with compatriot Jean-Frédéric Chapuis second on 472.
