International Floorball Federation secretary general John Liljelund is expecting the 2018 Men's World Floorball Championships to break attendance records with the competition due to tomorrow in Prague.

Four days before the start of the event, 55,000 daily tickets had been sold and it has been estimated that this will reach 60,000 before the tournament commences in the Czech Republic capital.

The total attendance estimation is 130,000 to 140,000.

The previous attendance records were set at the World Championships in Gothenburg in 2014, when 10,414 spectators watched Finland against Sweden in a group match and 104,445 attended in total.

"There will be a lot of people in the venues on the opening day and the semi-final day," Liljelund said.

"I think the final will technically be sold out, but as there are club seats in the arena, which the organisers only get control of nine days prior to the actual match, we will see.

"I still believe that both the one-game record and the overall attendance record will be broken."

The competition, featuring 16 of the world's best teams, is scheduled to begin tomorrow with six matches.

The Opening Ceremony will be held after these fixtures, followed by the hosts' first appearance at the competition as they take on Germany.

Poland and Thailand then meet to conclude the day's action.

The group stages are set continue until December 4, with the two best teams from groups A and B qualifying for the quarter-finals on December 6 and 7.

Teams placed third and fourth in groups A and B and first and second in groups C and D will compete in a play-off round scheduled for December 5 to make it to the quarter-finals.

The semi-finals and final are then due to be played on December 8 and 9.
