Russia, Ukraine and Portugal all emerged unbeaten from their groups as the men's World University Futsal Championships continued in Almaty.

The Russian team cruised through in Group A as they eased to an 11-0 success against France at the Halyk Arena in the Kazakh city.

Argentina were 7-0 winners against Slovakia, the result seeing them leapfrog France into second place.

Ukraine beat Thailand 3-1 in the battle of the top two in Group C, while Croatia settled for third above Germany.

A third straight success was achieved by Portugal as they beat Israel 3-0 in Group D, with Poland triumphing 5-3 against China to finish as runners-up.


Hosts Kazakhstan would top Group B with two wins and one draw, following their 1-1 stalemate with Belarus today.

The Czech Republic thrashed New Zealand 10-0 to finish in second place.

Russia and Ukraine currently lead Group A in the women’s event, having both earned two wins from their matches.

Russia were 6-0 winners against Israel today, while Poland claimed a 7-3 win over Canada to move level with their opponents in the standings.

Group B is led by Portugal who have two wins, with France moving second by overcoming New Zealand 6-1 today.
