Three Thai fighters have made it through to the finals on home soil at the inaugural International University Sport Federation (FISU) Muaythai World Championships, after a day of semi-finals in Pattaya today.

Last four bouts took place throughout the day at the Hard Rock Hotel, in five men's categories and one women's.

The men's 51kilogram fights started the day with Thailand's Yutthana Takhianvan the first to book his place in a final.

He beat Russia's Zathnaichenko on points 30-27, before Kazakhstan's Bakytzhan Arifkhanov took the second semi-final with a round two stoppage against Mohamad Farid Najmi Mohd Baki from Malaysia.

Mikalai Sviadomski from Bulgaria had an easy time of it in the men's 57kg category.

He was due to fight Javier Pinedo Blzquez from Spain, but the Spaniard was unable to compete and so Sviadomski was able to walk into the final unopposed.

He will now have to face Mark Valovich, who had to put in considerably more effort to beat Almaz Sarsembekov from Kazakhstan on points, 29-28.

The second Thai to make it though was Chanates Natee in the men's 63.5kg class.

In the only women's category on show today Alejandra Romero Calvo from Spain and Nili Block from Israel each made it through to the 60kg final.

They beat Labfas Chengay from The Philippines and Kesinee Tabtrai from Thailand respectively, with Romero Calvo winning her bout in the first round.

In the men's 81kg heavyweight class, which was the last to enter the ring today, Turkey's Ali Dogan and Myanmar's Mikita Shostak both made the final.

Shostak took his fight in the third round against the Frenchman Bilal Chareuf, while Dogan won on points against Hungary’s Zoltan Nardelotti.

The first finals will take place tomorrow, starting with the women's 51kg final featuring Thailand's Nuttacha Chamuanjit.
