The Prudential RideLondon Classique, the richest one-day race on the International Cycling Union (UCI) Women's World Tour, takes place tomorrow with two Dutch riders looking to continue their fight at the top of the overall standings.

The 16th event on the circuit takes place on a 5.4 kilometre course, starting and finishing on The Mall in St James' Park.

Last year the race was won by the United States' Coryn Rivera for Team Sunweb, who took the title and the resultant €25,000 ($29,000/£22,200) in prize money with a final sprint down The Mall.

Rivera is not the in form rider this year, though.

Currently top of the rankings is the Olympic champion Anna van der Breggen from The Netherlands, who rides for Boels Dolmans.

She extended her lead at the top of the rankings by 50 points by finishing second in the last race on the tour, La Course by Le Tour De France.

She was pipped on the line last time out by her former team-mate and compatriot Annemiek van Vleuten, who is the current time-trial world champion and is also in very good form.

As well as finishing first at Le Course, the 35-year-old has also won the Giro Rosa, the women's equivalent of the Giro d’Italia, this year.

Finishing first last time out at Le Course was not enough to give Van Vleuten the top spot in the World Tour rankings, although she does now sit second.

Both Van Der Breggen and Van Vleuten will be hoping to stop Rivera from retaining her RideLondon title, if not just for the tour points but also for the prize money.

Once again this year the winner will receive a cheque for €25,000, while the total prize money on offer for the whole race is €100,000 ($116,200/£88,800).

The race starts tomorrow at 5pm local time.
