Australian Sarah Roy sprinted to victory in Royal Leamington Spa as the Mitchelton Scott rider won stage three of the Women's Tour today.

Roy, 32, who won stage four of last year's race in Chesterfield, out-sprinted Giorgia Broznini from Cylance Pro Cycling and 2014 champion Marianne Vos from WaowDeals Pro Cycling to claim the win.

Her success in Warwickshire follows team-mate Jolien D’Hoore’s victory in Southwold in Suffolk on stage one.

Team Sunweb's Coryn Rivera finished fourth in the bunch sprint meaning she retains the overall tour lead.

The American leads Dutchwoman Vos by 16 seconds.

Britain's Dani King sits third overall on home soil, 20 seconds behind.

The Women's Tour has more than doubled its prize fund this year to match the sums given out in the men's race.

Prize money for the five day International Cycling Union Women's World Tour event now stands at €90,000 (£80,00/$105,000).

This is the fifth edition of the Tour, which finishes on Sunday (June 17).

Elsewhere today at the men's Tour de Suisse, Nairo Quintana won the mountainous stage seven from Eschenbach to Atzmännig.

The Colombian Movistar team member beat Jakob Fuglsang by 22 seconds after pulling away from the rest of the pack during the 29 kilometre climb to Arosa.

Australian Richie Porte has maintained the overall lead.

He came third in today's racing to ensure he keeps hold of the top spot, but the gap between him and Quintana, who is now second overall, has been cut slightly to 17 seconds.

Dutchman Wilco Kelderman has dropped to third in the overall standings after finishing in fifth today.

The penultimate stage tomorrow will see the riders tackle a relatively fast 123.8km course, while there will be three intermediate sprints at different points in the race.
