Scotland tied with hosts Zimbabwe in their final Group B match of the International Cricket Council World Cup qualifier in Bulawayo.

Both teams had already advanced to the Super Six phase of the competition prior to their clash but knew a victory at the Queens Sports Club would be enough to top the group.

Having won the toss and elected to bat, Zimbabwe made steady progress during their innings.

Craig Ervine and wicketkeeper Brendan Taylor were their top performers with the bat, scoring 57 and 44 runs respectively.

The pair were bowled by Brad Wheal and Michael Leask respectively.

Safyaan Sharif, however, proved the pick of Scotland’s bowlers as he took five wickets for the first time in a one-day international to help bowl Zimbabwe out for 210 after 46.4 overs.

Scotland recovered from an unsteady start to their innings, with 47 runs from Richie Berrington helping them move close to their target.

A tense finale was assured when Mark Watt was caught in the penultimate over, leaving Scotland 209-9.

Blessing Muzarabani bowled a wide with his first delivery to level the scores, but his second ball of the over was edged by Wheal to the wicketkeeper to end the match as a tie.

Zimbabwe still  finished top of Group B courtesy of their superior run rate to second place Scotland.
