Dutchman Niels Feijen produced a dominant display to clinch his second World Pool Masters title as he beat Shane Van Boening of the United States in the final in Gibraltar.

Feijen, winner of the corresponding event in 2013, overcame the American 8-4 at the Tercentenary Sports Hall.

"Shane is in his own league sometimes and he is a two-time winner so that gives you an extra spark, but I thought I had a real chance," Feijen said.

"I had been out for so long I knew if I could snap this thing off, it would mean a lot to me.

"I am pretty speechless right now.

"It has been a long ride and I would like to thank everybody who supported me, especially my wife.

"It is a great moment."

Feijen had booked his place in the final with an 8-3 win over Karl Boyes of England, who came back from the brink of defeat to defeat Germany's Ralf Souquet yesterday.

Van Boening accounted for Scotland's Jayson Shaw by the same scoreline in his semi-final today.

The triumph for Feijen marked a rare moment of celebration for the Dutchman, who had been out of the game for the best part of six months with tendonitis and had to have surgery.

He collected the trophy from Steven Linares, Gibraltar's Minister for Sport, Culture, Heritage and Youth, and pocketed a prize of $20,000 (£14,000/€16,000).
