Iran thrashed Uzbekistan to reach the final ©AFC

Iran recorded another huge victory to move into the final of the Asian Futsal Championship in Taiwan.

The defending champions and 11-time winners thumped Uzbekistan 7-1 in their last four contest at the Xinzhuang Gymnasium in New Taipei City.

It followed a 9-1 win over Thailand in the last eight and respective 14-0 and 11-1 victories over Myanmar and China in the group stage.

Mahdi Javid gave the Iranians a third minute lead today and strikes followed courtesy of Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh and Hossein Tayebi to make it 3-0.

Javid then completed his hat-trick with the score 5-0 at the break.

In the second half, Hassanzade and Tayebi both registered their second goals of the game before Anaskhon Rakhmatov grabbed a Uzbekistan consolation.

"Our main target was the final, and just after this game, our work has now begun," said Iran coach Mohammad Nazemasharieh. 

"Because that it what everyone in Asia is expecting us to reach the final. 

"We are third in the world, and we have to live up to that expectation."

Iran will play Japan for the title after they beat Iraq 3-0 to reach the final.

Three first half goals from Kaoru Morioka, Ryosuke Nishitani and Yuki Murota booked passage through for the three-time winners.

The final and third-place play-off will be played on Sunday (February 11).

Spain and Portugal will clash in the European Championship final in Slovenia tomorrow.
