French world champions Chloe Trespeuch and Nelly Moenne Loccoz won the women's race for their country as the first Snowboard Cross World Cup team event of the season was held in Montafon.

The duo, who won their world title in Sierra Nevada in Spain in March, won on the Austrian circuit for the third season in a row after leading the big final throughout.

It meant Moenne Loccoz, who took the second leg, added to the individual bronze she won in Montafon yesterday.

"This was a very good weekend for us here in Montafon," said Trespeuch, who won Olympic individual bronze at Sochi 2014.

"The course was fun, and I'm really happy to win here with the best team-mate ever.

"We want to just keep winning together again and again."

Meryeta Odine and Zoe Bergermann from Canada were today's silver medallists as Kristina Paul and Mariya Vasiltsova from Russia finished third.

In the men's event the Montafon defending champions also won as Spain's Regino Hernandez and Lucas Eguibar clinched gold.

It was a much tighter big final which Eguibar won for his country with a last-minute move.

"I was waiting for the last rollers, because I know I'm fast in the last turn," said Eguibar, who overtook Austria's Markus Schairer on the home stretch.

"So when I saw I was second I thought, 'okay, just wait for the last turn, and make your move there'.

"I was following Schairer's line and in the last jump I had a little bit of space and I just went full out and passed him."

Schairer was able to hold off France's Olympic champion Pierre Vaultier on the line to clinch silver with Alessandro Haemmerle.

In yesterday's individual race, Haemmerle and Schairer were second and third respectively.

Vaultier was partnered by Merlin Surget as the French took bronze.

The Snowboard Cross World Cup season will resume in Cervinia in Italy on December 22.
