Defending silver medallists Finland produced an impressive performance to dispatch Czech Republic 5-1 today at the Women's World Floorball Championships in Bratislava.

Finland, who were narrowly beaten 5-4 in overtime by Sweden at the 2015 event, proved too strong for their opponents today at the Hant Arena.

They scored one goal in each of the first two periods before cruising clear in the third.

Both teams are now on one win in the Group A - although Finland have played a game less.

Norway also gained a first win of the tournament after narrowly defeating Latvia today at the Ondrej Nepela Arena.

The Scandinavian side opened the scoring in the third minute but eventually triumphed 3-2 after a strong Latvian fightback.

Switzerland, the bronze medal winners in 2015, won 14-1 today over Poland in Group B elsewhere today.

Singapore and Australia drew 5-5 in Group C.

Both matches also took place at the Ondrej Nepela Arena.

While the top two teams in both Pool A and B will reach the last eight, the bottom sides will drop into a play-off.

They will meet the top ranked teams in Pool C and D for a place in the quarter-finals.
