Russia's Andrey Lamov and Tove Alexandersson of Sweden claimed their third and second victories respectively as the opening Ski Orienteering World Cup event of the season concluded in Ylläs.

Lamov continued his domination of the competition in the Finnish resort as he clocked 1hr 40min 23sec to top the podium in the men's long distance race.

The Russian, who triumphed in the sprint and middle distance races to complete a clean sweep of the men's events, finished in front of Gion Schnyder of Switzerland.

The Swiss was 35 seconds adrift in silver medal position, while the bronze medal went to Martin Hammarberg of Sweden.

Alexandersson also maintained her impressive display at the first World Cup competition of the new campaign as she reigned supreme in the women's long distance event.

The Swede powered to victory in a time of 1:37:08, 55 seconds in front of Mariya Kechkina of Russia.

Kechkina's team-mate came through to take the bronze medal and complete a successful event for the Russian team.

The next Ski Orienteering World Cup will double up as the European Championships.

It is due to be held in the Bulgarian resort of Velingrad from February 3 to 8.
