Home favourite David Lupac claimed the men’s over 120 kilograms title as action concluded today at the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) Open World Championships in Pilsen in Czech Republic.

Lupac managed a total of 1,127.5 kilograms to triumph on wilks points ahead of Ukraine’s Volodymyr Svistunov at the Parkhotel Congress Center.

The Czech’s overall tally was made up of 425kg in the squat, 340kg in the bench and 362.5kg in the deadlift.

Svistunov’s total, meanwhile, comprised 432.5kg in the squat, 350kg in the bench and 345kg in the deadlift.

Lupac amassed 626.78 wilks points, which was 12.63 more than Svistunov.

Iceland’s Julian J.K. Johannsson finished third with a total of 1,060kg.

The top male lifter at the IPF Open World Championships was confirmed as Russia’s Sergey Fedosienko with 672.87 points.

Poland’s Jaroslaw Olech finished second with 659.21 points, while Ukraine’s Dmytro Semenenko came third with 651.68. 

Heading the female rankings was Ukraine’s Larysa Soloviova with 654.16 points.

Japan’s Yukako Fukushima was the runner-up with 643.12 points, while Indonesia’s Widari Widari rounded out the podium with 642.87.
