Olympic champions Brazil have set their sights on a fourth consecutive International Volleyball Federation Men's World Grand Champions Cup title, with the tournament beginning in Japan tomorrow.

The Brazilians, who won a memorable gold medal on home soil at Rio 2016, have won the last three editions of the quadrennial tournament and four out of the six versions contested in all.

Five countries will be aiming to stop that run, with the Grand Champions Cup featuring the host nation, four continental champions and an FIVB wildcard.

All six will play each other in a round-robin competition with two rounds of matches at Nagoya's Nippon Gaishi Hall and three at Osaka's Municipal Central Gymnasium.

Brazil, who have qualified as South American champions, will be challenged by North American winners United States, European gold medallists France and Asian victors Iran.

Japan will compete as the host nation with Rio 2016 silver medallists Italy handed the wildcard position.

No knock-out matches will be held with the team who finishes top of the round-robin declared the winners.

Brazil will play France in tomorrow's first match in Nagoya.

Other opening matches will see Italy meet Iran and Japan entertain the US.

The men's competition follows the women's Grand Champions Cup which concluded last week in Japan.

Olympic champions China won the event.
