Thailand enjoyed successes in sepak takraw and the men's 4x100 metres relay in athletics today as action continued at the Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur.

But organisers revealed that 16 home Malaysian athletes have been hit by food poisoning during the event.

One was forced to go to hospital, while an unnamed swimmer missed a race, Agence France-Presse have reported, adding that the source of the outbreak has still reportedly not been identified.

Thailand enjoyed a good day as they set a Games record of 38.90sec to win the men's 4x100m relay at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

Indonesia crossed second in 39.05 and Philippines managed 39.11 for bronze.

Vietnam also set a Games record in winning the corresponding women's event in 43.88.

Philippines, the country expected to host the 2019 edition of the Southeast Asian Games, also claimed the inaugural men's ice hockey title.

They edged Thailand 5-4 in a tense final to complete an unbeaten tournament.

Malaysia beat Singapore 8-2 to secure bronze.
