Poland's Piotr Kantor and Bartosz Losiak will take on home favourites and Olympic champions Alison Cerutti and Bruno Oscar Schmidt in the final of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Beach World Tour event at the Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro, after each won last four clashes.

Cerutti and Schmidt advanced to their 16th FIVB World Tour gold medal match in 33 international starts together by posting a straight-sets win over 13th seeded Americans Theo Brunner and Casey Patterson.

The Brazilian duo won 21-16, 21-14 in 35 minutes.

It followed a quarter-final win over another American duo in Jake Gibb and Taylor Crabb, 21-19, 21-15.

Sixth-seeded Kantor and Losiak also won in straight sets, 21-19, 21-19, over ninth-seeded Daniele Lupo and Paolo Nicolai of Italy to seal their place in the final.

It avenged a loss to the same opponents during the Rio Olympics.

The Poles have never beaten Cerutti and Schmidt, but do have pedigree in Brazil after winning a Grand Slam event on Rio's Copacabana in March 2016.

The finals will take place tomorrow on a converted tennis court used at last year's Olympic Games in Barra de Tijuca.

Brazil will be hopeful of victory in both matches after Agatha Bednarczuk and Eduarda "Duda" Lisboa reached the women's gold medal game.

They won an all Brazilian last four clash against fifth seeds Fernanda Alves and Barbara Seixas.

Bednarczuk and Lisboa dropped the first set before winning 21-23, 21-15, 15-7.

Melissa Humana-Paredes and Sarah Pavan of Canada also reached the final, courtesy of a 21-19, 21-19 win over Barbora Hermannova and Marketa Slukova of Czech Republic.

They will seek to emulate the strong form showed by their compatriots Julie Gordon and Camille Saxton, who won back-to-back events in Australia in Shepparton and Sydney in March.
