FIFA has lifted the suspension on the Malian Football Federation (FEMAFOOT) after the country's Sports Minister reversed a decision to dissolve the organisation's entire Executive Committee.

World football's governing body suspended the FEMAFOOT on March 17.

It came after Housseini Amion Guindo controversially sacked the Executive Committee and installed an Interim Committee to run the FEMAFOOT following allegations of fraud during an election in 2016.

FIFA, who are against Government interference within its Member Associations, confirmed in a statement that Guindo had performed a u-turn on his original stance and had reinstated the organisation's leading officials, including President Boubacar Baba Diarra.

Their decision came prior to next week's FIFA Congress here, which takes place at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Conference Centre on Thursday (May 11).

"The Bureau of the FIFA Council decided on 28 April 2017 to lift the suspension that had been imposed on the Malian Football Association (FEMAFOOT) on 17 March 2017 for its failure to comply with its obligations stipulated in articles 14 and 19 of the FIFA Statutes after the Sports Minister of Mali had dissolved the FEMAFOOT Executive Committee," a FIFA statement read.

"The decision to lift the suspension was taken after FEMAFOOT provided a copy of the decision of the Malian Sports Minister annulling the initial decision to dissolve the Executive Committee."

According to the Confederation of African Football, FIFA secretary general Fatma Samoura had confirmed they had made the decision to allow Mali back into the international fold late last month.

It means the West African nation will be free to defend their title at the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, which runs from May 14 to 28.

An earlier FIFA statement confirmed the governing body in Mali could be sanctioned for the actions of Guindo after a lawyer for the Minister claimed the dissolution of the Executive Committee will not be reversed.

The lawyer, Amadou Diarra Yalcouye, insisted the move was made to "end the crisis" in Malian football and initially said the Ministry would refuse to back down.
