Tai Tzu Ying became the first-ever Chinese Taipei player to win the Yonex All England Open title as she clinched the women's singles crown with victory over Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham.

Tai produced a solid display to earn a 21-16, 22-20 triumph at the Badminton World Federation Superseries tournament.

The top seed proved too strong for fifth-seeded Intanon, the 2013 world champion who was bidding to become the first Thai winner of the All England Open.

While it was Tai's maiden triumph at the competition, world number one Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia wrapped up his fourth men's singles title as he confidently swept aside China's Shi Yuqi.

Perennial Olympic silver medallist Lee, who has never won a world or Olympic title, made light work of his Chinese opponent with a 21-12, 21-10 victory.

The 34-year-old, who came into the tournament nursing a slight injury, admitted his triumph came as a surprise and hinted that it may not be his last appearance at the All England Open.

"When I decided to come - which was a very close decision - I never at all thought that I would win the title," said Lee.

"Yes, I am very surprised.

"I came because it might be my last, and I just wanted to come and enjoy it."

In the women's doubles, fourth seeds Chang Ye-na and Lee So-hee of South Korea caused an upset as they beat second-seeded pair Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen of Denmark 21-18, 21-13.

The only final to go the distance came in mixed doubles, where China's Lu Kai and Huang Yaqiong ousted Peng Soon Chan and Liu Ying Goh of Malaysia 18-21, 21-19, 21-16.

Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo of Indonesia took home the men's doubles crown with a 21-19, 21-14 victory over Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen of China.
