Germany's male and female teams each guaranteed themselves spots in the quarter-finals of the World Junior-B Curling Championships in Östersund in Sweden with one day of round-robin action to spare.

The men's team made it six wins out of six by beating New Zealand 7-4 in their Group B clash.

Turkey and Poland lead the chasing pack with four wins apiece, although the Poles have the disadvantage of facing Germany tomorrow.

China are the only other unbeaten team in the men's event after a 6-2 win over second-placed Denmark.

They lie on five from five in Group B ahead of their two final clashes against England and The Netherlands tomorrow.

Germany lie second in Group C of the women's event but are also guaranteed to progress after winning 6-2 over England today.

Group leaders China also sealed their spot with an 8-3 thrashing of Denmark.

Scotland secured their sixth successive win to ensure their progression from Group B.

They won 7-1 over Czech Republic in their only match today.

The top two teams in each men's and women's round-robin group will proceed to the quarter-finals along with the third-placed team with the best draw shot challenge.

The other third-placed teams will play a qualification game to determine the last quarter-finalist.

Competition is open to junior teams from all World Curling Federation Member Associations that have not already qualified for the 2017 World Junior Curling Championships in South Korean city Gangneung.

The top three men's and women's teams overall will qualify for the Championships, which are scheduled to take place from February 16 to 26 and are a test event for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.

Round-robin action in Östersund is due to conclude tomorrow.
