Leading communications and public relations firm Burson-Marsteller has acquired a majority stake in international sports consulting company TSE Consulting, it has been announced.

The deal will see TSE, who specialise in providing communications counsel to key sporting organisations and those bidding for major events, become a fully integrated part of the Burson-Marsteller network.

TSE has the benefit of being based in Olympic capital Lausanne, giving them easy access to many of the main players in the movement.

They also boast regional offices in Europe, North and South America, Africa and the Middle East.

Burson-Marsteller had been looking to increase its sporting portfolio with the company's Europe, Middle East and Africa CEO Jeremy Galbraith saying there has "never been as much interest" in sports governance as there is today.

Lars Haue-Pedersen, managing director of TSE, told insidethegames: "This is the biggest day in the history of our company.

"We are happy and proud as we are taking a step into another league."

Discussions on the deal have been taking place since last year.

"There are enormous opportunities for us to pool our expertise in the world of international sports," added Haue-Pedersen.

"The work that TSE does for our clients will bring a new dimension to Burson-Marsteller’s existing sports practice – and Burson-Marsteller’s global network and communications expertise offer TSE Consulting the opportunity to keep building on our rapid growth and influence in international sports.”

Galbraith said he had already been "enormously" impressed with TSE and that clients "demanded" the type of expertise they could provide.

"With its headquarters in Lausanne, TSE Consulting has developed close and deep relationships with international sports bodies," he said.

"Working together with our offices in Switzerland and across the world to provide strategic communications advice to sports leaders and organisations, TSE adds a significant new dimension to our offer at a time when there are tremendous developments in the world of sports."
