Iran's Zahra Nemati has been named the International Paralympic Committee's (IPC) Athlete of the Month for November after a superb performance at the Asian Para-Archery Championships in Bangkok.

The London 2012 Paralympic champion notched 647 points in the women’s individual recurve event to finish ahead of China’s Dandanin Lin.

She also secured a quota place for the Rio 2016 Paralympics, to supplement an Olympic spot achieved at the able-bodied Asian Championships earlier in the month, where she won recurve silver.

Nemati collected 84 per cent of the votes to finish comfortably clear of Germany's Alpine skier Anna-Lena Forster.

She finished a distant second with seven per cent after winning both slalom races at the IPC Alpine Skiing Europa Cup in the Dutch municipality of Landgraaf, at the expense of Austrian world champion Claudia Loesch.

Ukrainian judoka Inna Cherniak finished third with four per cent, after winning gold in the women’s under 57 kilograms event at the International Blind Sports Federation European Judo Championships.

Other nominees included a second Ukrainian, powerlifter Mariana Shevchuk, who left the 2015 European Open with a junior world record and four medals, and Filipino wheelchair dancing duo of Rhea Marquez and Jun Julius Obero, gold medallists in the freestyle class two at the IPC Wheelchair Dance Sport World Championships in Rome.

United States' wheelchair racer Tatyana McFadden gained only one per cent of the vote despite setting a course record of 1 hour 43min 04sec to win the women’s wheelchair race in New York City last month.

This added to her triumphs in London, Boston and Chicago earlier in 2015.
