World number one Novak Djokovic produced a classy performance to become the first player to win four consecutive ATP World Tour Finals titles as he claimed a comprehensive straight-sets victory over Switzerland’s Roger Federer at London’s O2 Arena today.

The Serbian top seed was in formidable form, dictating play throughout the contest to secure a comfortable 6-3, 6-4 success, bringing the curtain down on another sensational season for the 10-time Grand Slam singles champion.

While the capacity crowd inside the venue may have been expecting a marathon tussle between the two tennis heavyweights, Djokovic had other ideas as he reasserted his status as one of the game's all-time greats with a trouble-free win to round off the 2015 campaign in style.

Federer, who had beaten Djokovic at the group stage of the tournament, was unable to find his usual pinpoint range and simply had no answer to the sheer power and accuracy of the Serbian’s groundstrokes.

The result also sees Great Britain’s Andy Murray finish the year as world number two for the first time in his career, with the Swiss maestro not far behind in third.

The 34-year-old remains the most successful player in the history of the event as he leads the way on six titles, one ahead of the impregnable Serbian star.

"I am enjoying every moment on the court, I cherish every moment after dreaming of it as a kid," Djokovic said.

"I am looking forward to our two weeks of holiday with my wife and son and away from tennis for a bit.

"Congratulations to Roger, it was another epic match today and I hope you enjoy your time off with your family."

Djokovic struck first in the opening set, breaking in the third game after Federer dumped a routine forehand into the net following a superb cross-court passing shot from the Serbian.

The 28-year-old, who beat his Swiss counterpart in the final of both Wimbledon and the US Open this year, survived the odd scare on his own serve before closing out the first set.

Though Federer remained unable to stamp his authority on proceedings, the second set began in even fashion as both players traded holds and with the score at 3-3, the Swiss remained well and truly in the match.

But after failing to take advantage of three break points in the ninth game, Djokovic could sense victory and testament to the out-of-sorts display from Federer, his triumph was sealed thanks to an ill-timed double fault from the Swiss.

The win for the Serbian ensured he clinched his 11th crown of another incredible year, netting a cool £1.4 million ($2.1 million/€2 million) in the process.

Jean-Julien Rojer of The Netherlands and Romanian partner Horia Tecau clinched the men’s doubles title by beating eighth seeds Rohan Bopanna of India and Florin Mergea of Romania in straight sets.

The duo dominated from the outset and edged ahead by taking the opening set 6-4, before they built on that momentum by winning the second 6-3 to see out a straightforward victory.

The result saw them become the first team to lift the trophy without dropping a set since round-robin play began in 1986 and the pair have also finished the year as the top ranked men’s doubles players.
